Parent Council
Kilsyth Academy has a very active Parent Council. We are pleased to announce that Mr Gordon Anderson has been elected as our new chair person in 2020. The Head Teacher is the professional adviser to the Parent Council and is entitled to attend all meetings.
Parent Members are elected annually, in September, at the AGM of the Parent Forum. Meetings of the Parent Council are open to members of the public.
The Parent Council's rights and duties include:
- supporting the work of the school;
- representing the views of parents;
- consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest;
- promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, and the wider community;
- improving home-school partnerships and facilitating parental involvement;
- fundraising
- taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff;
- receiving reports from the Head Teacher and Education Authority; and
- receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses.
